Terms of Use

Last updated: 6 July 2026 · Privacy Policy · Contact: support@freeplay.ie

Welcome to FreePlay. These Terms of Use explain the rules for using FreePlay, including the FreePlay mobile apps, website, playground and family-friendly place listings, Playdate Lists, shared list features and FreePlay Hero.

By using FreePlay, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use FreePlay.

1. About FreePlay

FreePlay helps families discover playgrounds, parks, libraries, walks, family-friendly places and related facilities. FreePlay may also include public lists, shared Playdate Lists, community suggestions, voting features, sponsored listings and optional supporter features.

FreePlay is designed to help parents and guardians make better plans, but it does not replace your own judgement. Facilities, opening times, access, safety conditions, prices and availability can change.

Parents, guardians and carers remain responsible for deciding whether a place is suitable and safe for their children.

2. Who can use FreePlay

FreePlay is intended for parents, guardians, carers and family users. You must use FreePlay lawfully and responsibly.

If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity on your account.

3. Location and country browsing

FreePlay may ask for your location so it can show playgrounds and family-friendly places near you. Location access is optional. You can also browse by choosing a country or using other non-location features.

You can change location permissions at any time in your device settings.

More information about how FreePlay handles data is available in our Privacy Policy.

4. Place information and safety

FreePlay tries to provide useful, practical information about places, including facilities, accessibility, age suitability, toilets, parking, cafés, paid entry and other family-relevant details.

However, FreePlay cannot guarantee that every listing is complete, accurate, current or suitable for your family. Places may close, change facilities, become unsafe, charge entry, restrict access or have temporary issues.

Before visiting, you should check any important details yourself, especially where safety, accessibility, opening hours, travel, booking or paid entry matters.

5. User content, suggestions and lists

FreePlay may allow users to create lists, share lists, suggest places, vote on places or submit feedback.

You agree not to upload, submit or share anything that is:

  • false or deliberately misleading
  • abusive, hateful, threatening or harassing
  • inappropriate for a family-focused service
  • unlawful or infringing someone else's rights
  • spam, advertising or unrelated promotional content
  • private personal information about another person without permission

FreePlay may remove, moderate, edit or decline content where needed to keep the service safe, useful and appropriate.

6. Playdate Lists and shared lists

Playdate Lists are designed to help families save, organise and share playgrounds or family-friendly places.

If you share a public or collaborative list, people with access to the link may be able to view the list and, depending on the feature, vote or suggest places. Do not include private information in list titles, descriptions or shared content.

FreePlay may change or improve list features over time.

7. FreePlay Hero

FreePlay Hero is an optional paid supporter feature. It helps support FreePlay and may unlock additional features or perks shown in the app at the time of purchase.

FreePlay remains free for families to use for core discovery and browsing.

FreePlay Hero may be offered as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple App Store, Google Play or another payment provider depending on where you subscribe.

The subscription title, price, billing period and renewal details are shown before purchase in the app or platform checkout.

8. Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation

If you buy a FreePlay Hero subscription, your subscription will renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date according to the rules of the platform or payment provider used for the purchase.

You can manage or cancel your subscription through the same platform you used to subscribe.

  • Apple App Store purchases: manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple account subscription settings.
  • Google Play purchases: manage or cancel your subscription through Google Play subscriptions.
  • Web purchases, if available: manage or cancel through the account, billing or customer support process shown at the time of purchase.

Deleting the app may not cancel a subscription. You must cancel through the relevant platform or payment provider. Refunds are handled according to the rules of the platform or payment provider used for purchase.

9. Apple App Store users

If you downloaded FreePlay from the Apple App Store, this section applies to you.

These Terms are between you and FreePlay, not Apple. FreePlay is responsible for the app and its content.

Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for FreePlay. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to FreePlay, including product liability claims, legal compliance claims or claims that the app infringes third-party rights.

Your use of FreePlay must comply with the App Store rules and any applicable Apple terms.

If your FreePlay Hero subscription is purchased through Apple, payment, renewal, cancellation and refund handling are managed by Apple through your Apple account.

To the extent required by Apple, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce these Terms against you.

These Terms are intended to act as FreePlay's custom terms for App Store users and do not reduce any rights you have under applicable law or Apple's required minimum terms.

10. Google Play users

If you downloaded FreePlay from Google Play, this section applies to you.

If your FreePlay Hero subscription is purchased through Google Play, payment, renewal, cancellation and refund handling are managed through Google Play.

You can manage or cancel your subscription through Google Play subscriptions.

Your use of FreePlay must comply with the Google Play terms and policies that apply to you.

11. Sponsored listings and paid places

FreePlay may include sponsored listings, paid-entry venues, promoted places or business-supported content.

Sponsored or paid-entry places should be labelled where relevant. A sponsored listing does not mean FreePlay guarantees that a place is suitable, safe, available or right for your family.

Always check important details before visiting.

12. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • misuse FreePlay or interfere with the service
  • attempt to access accounts, systems or data without permission
  • scrape, copy or bulk extract FreePlay data without written permission
  • use FreePlay to harass, mislead or harm others
  • submit malicious code, spam or automated abuse
  • use FreePlay in a way that breaks the law

13. Intellectual property

FreePlay, including its name, branding, design, software, icons, written content and original materials, belongs to FreePlay or its licensors.

You may use FreePlay for personal and family purposes. You may not copy, sell, reproduce or commercially exploit FreePlay content or features without permission, except where allowed by law.

14. Availability and changes

FreePlay may change, pause, remove or improve features at any time. Some features may be experimental, seasonal, limited by country or available only to certain users.

We aim to keep FreePlay useful and reliable, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available, error-free or uninterrupted.

15. Account suspension or removal

FreePlay may suspend or remove accounts, content or access where reasonably necessary, including where a user breaks these Terms, misuses the service, creates safety concerns or causes harm to the FreePlay community.

16. Limitation of liability

FreePlay is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, FreePlay is not liable for losses arising from:

  • inaccurate or outdated place information
  • changes to opening hours, facilities, pricing or access
  • accidents, injuries or incidents at third-party locations
  • user-generated content
  • temporary service interruptions
  • decisions made based on information in the app or website

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be limited.

17. Privacy

Your privacy matters. Please read our Privacy Policy to understand how FreePlay collects, uses and protects information.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are important, we may provide notice in the app, on the website or by another reasonable method.

The latest version will always be available at freeplay.ie/terms.

19. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, unless consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.

20. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact FreePlay at support@freeplay.ie or using the contact form on the FreePlay website.
